About WeMetOnce

A platform built for one purpose: helping people find each other again.

Why WeMetOnce Exists

People lose contact for many reasons — families move, schools change, cities become different, life takes unexpected turns. A childhood friend, a school classmate, a neighbor, a colleague — these are connections that mattered, and sometimes people want to find each other again.

WeMetOnce provides a structured, safer way to attempt that reconnection. It is not a dating app, a social network, or a public directory. It is a digital bridge between people separated by time, distance, and circumstances.

What WeMetOnce Is

  • A place to post about someone you remember
  • A moderated community that puts safety first
  • A platform where connections happen through mutual consent
  • Built for reconnection, not dating or networking

What WeMetOnce Is NOT

  • A dating website or app
  • A generic social network
  • A public people directory
  • A police or investigation database
  • An emergency missing-person service

A Different Kind of Reconnection

Many people remember a person without knowing where they live today or how to contact them. WeMetOnce is designed around that gap: a person can describe a shared place, time, or experience and leave an opening for the other person to respond if they choose. The goal is not to uncover private contact details or to track someone down.

That distinction matters. A name or memory may be mistaken, and the person being remembered may have changed their preferences or circumstances. A post should therefore be written as an invitation, not as a claim that someone owes a response. No response must be treated as a valid choice.

What a Thoughtful Search Includes

  • A broad time period and shared setting, such as a school, workplace, neighborhood, or public event.
  • One or two non-sensitive memories that could help the right person recognize the connection.
  • A short explanation of why you hope to reconnect, without pressure or demands.
  • Only the minimum personal information needed to describe the memory.

What We Cannot Promise

WeMetOnce cannot guarantee that a person will be found, that a post will lead to a match, or that someone will want to reconnect. We are not a people-search investigation service or an emergency missing-person service. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency services instead of relying on a community post.

Our Core Principle

Help people find each other without sacrificing their privacy.
