Help & FAQ
Practical answers about posting, privacy, connection requests, and getting help.
What is WeMetOnce for?
WeMetOnce helps people post about a meaningful past encounter or relationship—such as a former classmate, colleague, neighbor, or friend—and gives others a way to recognize the shared memory and choose whether to connect.
How do I write a useful Lost Connection post?
Include the general place or context, an approximate time period, and a non-sensitive detail you both might remember. Avoid exact addresses, phone numbers, private messages, identity documents, and details about someone's private life. Our How It Works page has a practical checklist.
Can WeMetOnce guarantee that I will find someone?
No. WeMetOnce cannot confirm a person's identity from a post alone and cannot guarantee that someone will see your post or choose to respond. A possible match is only a starting point for a voluntary conversation.
Who can see Lost Connection posts?
Community posts are intended for signed-in members. Public information pages and blog articles can be viewed without an account. Review your post and profile visibility settings before sharing personal information.
What happens after I publish a post?
Posts are submitted for review before they are made visible. If a post is approved and another member believes it relates to them, they may choose to send a connection request. Do not assume that a match is verified or that the other person wants contact.
Do I have to accept a connection request?
No. You can decline or ignore a request and should never feel pressured to respond. Use available blocking and reporting controls if someone behaves inappropriately.
Is WeMetOnce a dating or people-tracking service?
No. It is intended for respectful reconnection around genuine shared memories, not dating, surveillance, tracking, harassment, or finding someone for harmful purposes.
What should I do if I receive a suspicious message?
Do not share passwords, one-time codes, identity documents, money, or private contact details. Stop the conversation, use reporting or blocking controls where available, and seek help from the relevant authorities if you face a threat or fraud.
Is WeMetOnce an emergency missing-person service?
No. It is not an emergency response, law-enforcement, or professional investigation service. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services rather than waiting for a website response.
