Community Guidelines

Clear expectations help make reconnection respectful, voluntary, and safer for everyone.

Respect boundaries and consent

A connection request is an invitation, not an obligation. Accept a no, a decline, silence, or a decision to disconnect. Do not repeatedly contact someone who has declined or asked you to stop.

Protect other people's privacy

Share only details needed to recognize a shared memory. Do not post private contact details, exact addresses, private messages, identity documents, health details, or information that could put someone at risk.

Be honest about what you know

Do not impersonate another person, invent a relationship, claim a match is certain when it is only a guess, or use the platform to deceive or pressure someone.

No harassment, tracking, or scams

Threats, stalking, doxxing, blackmail, hate, fraud, spam, unwanted sexual content, and attempts to locate someone for intimidation or harm are not allowed.

Use the service for genuine reconnection

Posts should describe a real shared encounter or relationship from the past. Do not use Lost Connections to advertise, collect leads, promote products, or search for people for unrelated purposes.

A simple posting checklist

  • Describe the shared context, such as a school, workplace, event, or approximate year.
  • Use only information you have a legitimate reason to share and avoid sensitive identifying details.
  • Write neutrally; do not publish accusations, guesses about private circumstances, or demands for a response.
  • Make it easy for the other person to decide whether to respond, without pressure.

How to report a concern

Use the available report control for the relevant post, profile, or message. Include a short explanation of what happened. Reports may require review; do not assume an immediate outcome. For an urgent threat or immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Read our Safety & Privacy guidance for practical steps before and after a connection.
